First Look – TaylorMade P760 Irons

Jason Day has joined Brendan Steele, and Loius Oosthuizen on the list of Tour Pros presumably tasked with leaking photos of new gear from the 2019 catalog. In an Instagram live video yesterday, Day showed off TaylorMade’s upcoming P760 irons.

PGATour.com’s Jonathan Wall grabbed a couple of screenshots of the iron that will, as the name so obviously suggests, between the P750 and P770 in the TaylorMade lineup. Early judgment on the cosmetics hasn’t been positive, but I’m a firm believer in a wait and see approach. Sometimes photos don’t do products justice.

Wall also shared some additional information from TaylorMade’s Tomo Bystedt.

Speed Foam is at the core (sorry) of many of TaylorMade’s recent technology stories, so it’s not surprising to see it trickle from the P790 into what I’d describe as a more traditional iron. 2018 was the year of the Players Distance iron. 2019 is shaping up to be the year that hollow-body (or filled hollow-body) designs make their way into more player-centric iron offerings. While golfers who play irons from those categories aren’t necessarily looking for more distance, if you can get it without sacrificing launch conditions, consistency, or control, wouldn’t you take it?

Additional details will surely follow soon, but it’s reasonable to expect that the P760 will retail for around $1100 (+/- $100) in either direction.
