The Open Championship is almost always excuse-enough for Mizuno to leak some of its upcoming gear.
This time around, or at lest so far (more to come?), it's the new T7 wedge that's grabbing the attention; due in no small part to the fact that Luke Donald has them in play this week at Royal Troon.
About the Mizuno T7 Wedge
Perhaps most noteworthy, the T7 is is the first Mizuno wedge made from 1025 Boron. That material was first used in the JPX-850 Forged two seasons ago, and last year found its way into the MP-25 and JPX-EZ Forged. It's not any real surprise that 1025 Boron has found its way into Mizuno's wedge lineup
As you can see from the photos, this is a relatively clean design with not a lot of busy work on the back. There's definitely a bit of contrast between the strong, straight lines of the T7 logo and the more rounded (circle-enclosed) loft and bounce designation.
Several of our Facebook and Twitter followers have commented that they like the prominent loft display, which could make them easier to identify while they're in your bag. I'm guessing several more would tell you that having the loft on the sole was working just fine for them.
Mizuno T7 Wedge Specifications
Over the past several seasons Mizuno has steadily built-up it's wedge lineup to the point where it can compete against anyone's while rivaling many's.
The specs below were pulled from a UK website, so it's possible the US retail offerings may differ, however; what we see here is an extremely robust lineup where the variety of bounce options are most likely the result of Mizuno's efforts to address the needs of a variety of swing types.
We're expecting a September release with a retail price point consistent with past Mizuno wedge offerings.
