It’s a fair bet the PGA Championship isn’t anyone’s favorite major, but for some, it’s the final piece of the career Grand Slam. Arnie never won it, and Spieth still needs it. For Ben Hogan, Sam Sneed and Ray Floyd, the PGA was the first of multiple Majors.
And for many – Keegan Bradley, Jason Dufner, Davis Love III, Wayne Grady and Hal Sutton among them – it’s their only taste of the promised land.
This is the 100th PGA Championship, and while the hunt for the Wanamaker Trophy isn’t as glamorous as the other Majors, it still makes for compelling golf. The contest is pretty simple to enter. You pick a five-person team (one from each tier of player), and if your team combines to win the most prize money at Bellerive, you win. As we said, first prize is a full set of Wilson Staff irons fully customized to your specs, second prize is a Wilson Staff PMP wedge in the new Raw finish, and third prize is a dozen Wilson DUO Soft golf balls.
We had great fun with this contest during the Masters, U.S Open and Open Championship, and this one promises more of the same. And Wilson knows a little somethin’-somethin’ about Majors, too, having won 61 of these things over the years.
